The Lansing Model Railroad Club’s HO scale layout, built in the early 1980s in the old Millett train station, has been greatly expanded since a large addition was added to the building in 2010. The layout expansion is multi-deck construction and includes helix, staging yard, lake port and ore dock, and even a farm with super healthy cows. Layout size is 850 sq. ft., with 550 ft. of mainline. The city of Millett in the old section is noted for its dramatic tall buildings and highly detailed street markings, signs, and urban clutter. Along with scenery, the club emphasizes operations and electronics. Be sure to check out, climb in, the MA Tower which once controlled trains through Lansing and now has been moved next to the LMRC’s clubhouse/station. Restoration is well under way, and the plan is to run the club layout from it. The club uses NCE DCC and JMRI car forwarding in its operating sessions. Handicap access to the whole first floor is easy via the sturdy wheelchair ramp, but not to second floor. For more, see: lmrc.org.
